Israel deliberately used decisive force to enhance regional deterrence and demonstration that it had restored its military edge.
(Legitimate war goals that all nations have------- legitimate military war objective to all nations in the past). There in line with International Law, especially in the view of unrelenting attacks on Israel civilians.
The study released by CSIS , a response to a flood of war crimes accusations against Israel. These charges were brought by a group of notoriously anti Semitic human rights organizations in order to bring the Jewish State before the International Criminal Court.
In the report those accusations against Israel were dismissed as political efforts for propaganda, in order to gain political leverage in this type of conflict.
The chief way is by exaggerating charges and numbers that cannot be validated by reliable data or methodology. (reports CSIS.)
The Palestinians job in effectively wielding such propaganda as a weapon against Israel is often made easier by the international media’s willingness to accept Palestinian claims at face value, without any investigation. Only six weeks after the Olmert government launched what was built as a disproportionate punitive response to Hamas’s daily attacks on Israeli civilians.
Hamas is reaping the spoils of the war it lost militarily. Olmert folded under pressure for a cease-fire despite Hamas’s refusal to agree. So instead Olmert ordered a
unilateral suspension of attacks on military targets in Gaza Strip. The U>N> and the world media find that indistinguishable from an Israeli promise to cease fire.
So when Hamas fires rockets into Israel that is a provocation; when Israel retaliates bombing and empty warehouse or a sand dune at Gaza the world media charges Israel with breaking a cease fire.
Every rocket attack gives an advantage to Hamas.
Every Israeli retaliation gives an advantage to Hamas.
Eager to please th eU>N> the Olmert government suspended targeted strikes against the Hamas leadership. In return, Hamas promises to continue the fight for Israel’s destruction. Hamas demanded Israel open its borders as a condition to cease fire, then refused to accept the cease fire.
To help the suffering Palestinians non-combatants, Israel opened its borders to supply trucks and convoys. Hamas responded by resuming its smuggling of rockets via tunnels of Egypt into Gaza, despite Egypt’s total past failure Israel has negotiated an agreement to leave the monitoring of arms smuggling in Egyptians hands.
In addition Israel has promised to lift its naval blockade of Egyptian ships to Gaza in return Hamas promises nothing.
Olmert appears willing to withdraw his demands to put control of crossings into the Palestinians authorities’ hands. He is apparently now willing to surrender control of the crossings to Hamas. That strengthens Hamas and weakens Palestinian authority. Olmert has also indicated a willingness to negotiate a prison swap for Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier held hostage by Hamas. Shalit was kidnapped almost three years ago (2006) in a cross border raid at one of the crossings. Olmert approved and earlier exchange for the 2 soldiers kidnapped by Hesbollah in 2006. That hostage taking led to the second Lebanon war that exchange Olmert traded away some of Israeli’s most vicious terrorist prisoners in exchange for what turned out to be 2 corpses (**Hamas had already killed them long before this exchange would take place). Olmert ordered the withdrawal of the IDF from GAZA in January without freeing sergeant Shalit. Earlier Hamas had demanded release of 1000 jailed Palestinian terrorists included convicted multiple murderers of the Fatah Tanzine* popular front and Hamas. That was before Israel entered Gaza to free Shalit and wipe out Hamas.
Now Hamas is demanding 1250 prisoners in exchange for Shalit with this kind of display of weakness and lack of resolve, is there any wonder the Muslim terrorists have proclaimed that Israel’s destruction is very near.
Hamas has stolen much of the aid sent to Gaza by the U>N>
Last week the U>N> announced that it was suspending shipments of aid to Gaza until Hamas returned the stolen goods. Even then the U>N> spokesman said , “aid maybe suspended indefinitely”/ Could it be that the U>N> is learning what many Israeli’s have known all along????? “
